If you live anywhere in the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon borough, your bins may be going out on a different day from Monday 26 October. Here’s how to find out in about a minute.
When do the new bin days start?
The new collection schedules begin in the week commencing Monday 26 October 2026. Not every household will see a change, but the council is asking everyone in the borough to check, because your day may change.
How do I find my new collection day?
Over 91,000 households were due a leaflet in the post between 5 and 15 October, showing the new collection schedule and a six-month calendar. Keep it somewhere safe.
If yours hasn’t arrived, you can:
Check online at armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk/binchanges

What do I need to do?
Put your bin out by 7am on your new collection day
Keep presenting it in the same place as usual
Carry on following the usual bin and recycling guidance
Black, green and brown bins stay on a fortnightly cycle. The only real change for affected homes is the day.
Why is the council doing this?
The council describes it as a route optimisation programme covering the whole borough. It points to a growing population, more reliable collections, better value, and fewer wasted miles and emissions. The Lord Mayor, Councillor Mary O’Dowd, said the council wants people to have plenty of notice so they can get used to the change.
What about the changeover week?
Some households will have a longer gap between collections while they move onto the new schedule. If you’ve extra waste or recycling, your nearest Household Recycling Centre can take it.
One reminder worth repeating: green and brown bins should hold only the materials the council specifies. Contaminated bins may not be emptied.
